My Sweet Princess- Prima's Something Blue Collection

For my giveaway press HERE

Here is another project I created using the Something Blue collection. Check out all the projects on the Prima blog.

I wanted to use the Something Blue collection for a non-wedding theme. It is a very feminine collection so I thought it would be perfect to create a layout about my daughter.

I fussy cut lots of flowers from one of the papers and then used the leftover pieces as a shadow for the flowers. The effect was quite interesting as I always throw out the leftover pieces after I cut and now I don't have to. You can see the irregular shapes under the cut-out flowers in the picture above.

What do you do with your unused stash?- Here are some ideas

For my giveaway press HERE

I've seen this question asked many times. What should you do with all your unused scrapbooking stuff.

Over the years I've had many giveaways to give back to all my followers but it also helped me purge some of the amount of scrapbooking supplies I've bought over the past 10 years.

I've also given some to my scrappy friends around here and sent some abroad for some of my new friends too.

I also gave some of the more childish stuff to my daughter's kindergarten teacher a couple of years back so she can use around the classroom.

However I still found a lot of old unused stuff from my beginner days that I just didn't know what to do with.
My husband came up with the  idea to give it away to the old age home where my grandmother was staying.
I collected old papers, alphas, embellies, gems, etc and put them in two huge bags and donated it to them.

I was so happy to hear that they put it into good use. They made signs for each person's room with their name on it and hung it by the door. They decorated the inside of the shadow box that is in front of each room which holds the person's family photos.
and they even used it to create their own arts and crafts decorations.

When I went to visit my grandmother right before she passed away, I was able to take some photos to show you how they had used my stash.

If you don't know what to do with your unused, unwanted stash this is a great way to get rid of it.
One person's junk is another's treasure!!!

Here are some photos of what they created:

The first one is the sign on my grandmothers door with her name on it.

This is another door with the person's name right on it.

These are the shadow boxes, they used the papers as background

How cool are these swans made out of different scrapbooking papers.

Aren't these projects so cool???

 Well that's all for today.
Hope you're having a wonderful day!!

Wired Pencils- Prima OTP

One of the new Prima products this year for winter CHA is Wire thread.

It comes in a variety of colours and you can use it for so many different projects.

I thought it would be a fun ans simple idea to wrap a the wire thread around a pencil. I think my daughter would absolutely love writing with a fun and funky pencil like this. To decorate the top, I created a flower on one of the pencils and a butterfly on the other.

Once I wrapped the pencils, I created a little design on the top. The first one was a flower and then my son gave me the idea to create a butterfly with the other one. I think every little girl would love to write with a cute pencil like this one.

You Shine- Blue Fern Studios Reveal Part 2

This is my second layout for my first reveal at the Blue Fern Studio blog

In this bright and cheerful layout of my son I have used a few pieces of the Tattered Diamond bits. I cut them in different places so I could spread them throughout my page.
They were first covered in Turquoise acrylic paint and then stamped with a script stamp using a darker shade of acrylic turquoise paint.

You can see the diamond bits in a close-up below. I also smeared some white gesso on them to blend it with the rest of the layout.

The title "You Shine" is from the Optimist Word Set.  It was covered in the same dark hued paint from above.
